About Emergent
Emergent was founded on two simple truths.
First, protecting tropical forests is essential to climate stability, biodiversity, and the livelihoods of over a billion people worldwide.
Second, the urgency of today’s climate and nature crises demands action at an unprecedented scale and pace.
Emergent was created to bridge a gap - connecting forest countries and buyers, and simplifying the process to overcome the fragmentation and complexity that have previously limited progress.
As an independent non-profit, we accelerate the flow of climate finance while upholding the highest standards of integrity - helping to build a trusted, high-integrity market for forest protection.
To date, we have mobilized $1 billion in public and private finance via the LEAF Coalition, and signed agreements with forest governments including Ghana, Costa Rica, the Brazilian state of Pará, Ecuador, Nepal, and Côte d’Ivoire.
We are moving from ambition to action, and from action to impact - supporting large-scale efforts to halt and reverse deforestation for climate, nature and people.
