Who Benefits from Conserving Forests? From Participation to Climate Finance: Ecuador’s REDD+ Experience

Panel Session

This session will present Ecuador’s REDD+ Benefit Distribution Plan (BDP), developed through a participatory process led by the Ministry of Environment and Energy since 2022. The process brought together Indigenous Peoples, local communities, Afro-Ecuadorian and Montubio peoples, civil society, local governments, and other stakeholders to shape an approach grounded in safeguards, free, prior and informed consent (FPIC), inclusive governance, and equitable benefit-sharing.
